Terms of service.
The agreement between you and Playdapt for your home climbing-gym subscription. Written to be read — plain language first, fine print second.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the home climbing-gym subscription provided by Playdapt ("Playdapt," "we," "us," or "our"). By reserving a spot, signing up, or using our equipment, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully — they include important details about your $700 refundable Care Bond, your 9-month minimum term, and your 14-day love-it guarantee.
01Who we are
Playdapt is a Canadian subscription service that delivers, installs, maintains, swaps, and collects professional indoor children's climbing gyms in customers' homes. We currently operate in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) only. You can reach us any time at hello@playdapt.com.
02The service
Your subscription is a rental of equipment together with the services that surround it. Every plan includes:
- White-glove delivery and professional installation in your home
- A safety mat and climbing equipment built to CCPSA safety standards
- Configuration swaps as your child grows, with no separate swap fee — your monthly adjusts only if you move to a larger plan
- Collection of the equipment at the end of your subscription, with your home left as we found it
The equipment remains the property of Playdapt at all times. You are renting access to it — you are not purchasing it, and no ownership transfers to you under these Terms.
03Eligibility & service area
To subscribe, you must be at least 18 years of age, be the homeowner or have authority to install equipment at the delivery address, and live within our active service area in the Greater Toronto Area.
Before delivery we confirm that your space is suitable — including ceiling height and floor footprint. If your space is not suitable, we will tell you honestly before you commit a cent, and you will owe nothing.
04Term & renewal
Your subscription has a 9-month minimum term beginning on the date your gym is installed. After the minimum term, your subscription automatically continues on a month-to-month basis at the standard plan rate until you cancel.
Launch rates are locked for your initial 9-month term only. When that term ends, your subscription moves to the standard rate for your plan — we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before that change takes effect.
05The Care Bond
The Refundable Care Bond is not collected when you reserve your Playdapt membership.
When your installation date has been confirmed and your equipment has been allocated, we will collect a fully refundable $700 Care Bond before installation takes place.
The Care Bond is not a fee and is not part of your membership payment. It is a refundable security deposit held while Playdapt equipment remains in your home.
Returned in full when we collect the gym in good condition. The Care Bond covers normal wear and tear — it is not a damage clause, and it is held as a restricted liability, never used as operating cash.
We may apply the Care Bond toward amounts you owe us — including late fees, unpaid subscription charges, an applicable cancellation charge, or the cost of repair or replacement where equipment is returned with damage beyond normal wear and tear or is not returned. Any unused portion is refunded to your original payment method, typically within 14 days of collection.
06Fees & billing
Launch reservations require payment of the first month's membership at the time of reservation. This reservation payment is applied toward your first month of service and remains fully refundable until installation occurs.
Your monthly subscription fee is charged in advance to the payment method on file, on the same day each month, starting on your installation date. All fees are in Canadian dollars and exclusive of applicable taxes, which are added where required.
- Delivery, installation, swaps, and collection carry no separate service fee
- If a payment fails, our system automatically retries the charge — we'll always reach out so we can sort it out with you
- We will give you at least 30 days' notice before any change to your recurring rate, which will never affect a locked launch rate
Missed payments
Because the gym stays in your home, there is nothing to switch off if a payment is missed — so instead of pausing service, our payment system automatically retries the charge. A $49 late fee applies once per billing cycle in which a payment fails — no matter how many automatic retries are needed within that cycle — and is deducted from your Care Bond. If a payment fails again in a later billing cycle, a further $49 applies for that cycle. If payment remains unresolved after 30 days, we will arrange to retrieve the equipment from your home and end the subscription — at which point a $200 cancellation charge plus one month's subscription fee also applies, in addition to the $49 late fee(s) already charged. These amounts are deducted from your Care Bond, with any balance refunded to you and any shortfall remaining payable.
07The 14-day love-it guarantee
If the gym isn't right for your family for any reason, tell us within 14 days of installation and we will make it right — including collecting the equipment and refunding your Care Bond in full. The 14-day guarantee is our promise that the first two weeks are risk-free.
08Swaps & collection
As your child grows into a new stage, we will swap your gym for a larger configuration. There is no separate fee for the swap itself — delivery, installation, and collection of the previous setup are included. If the larger configuration belongs to a higher plan, your monthly subscription adjusts to that plan's rate going forward. Swaps are subject to scheduling and availability. When your subscription ends, we collect the equipment and the safety mat and restore your space to the condition we found it in.
You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to your home for scheduled swaps and collection, and to make the equipment available and unobstructed for our team.
09Your responsibilities
To keep everyone safe and your Care Bond whole, you agree to:
- Use the equipment only as intended, and follow the safety guidance we provide at installation
- Supervise children during use, as set out in our Safety & waivers
- Not move, modify, repair, or relocate the equipment yourself — contact us and we'll handle it
- Tell us promptly if anything feels loose, worn, or unsafe so we can inspect or service it
- Keep the equipment indoors and protected from misuse, deliberate damage, or extreme conditions
10Safety & liability
Climbing involves inherent physical risk. Our equipment is built to CCPSA children's product safety standards, professionally installed, and safety-checked on site at every visit. Even so, adult supervision is required at all times during use.
Your use of the equipment is also governed by our Safety & waivers, which form part of these Terms. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Playdapt is not liable for injury or loss arising from misuse, unsupervised use, or modification of the equipment. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded.
11Cancellation
During the 14-day guarantee window, you may cancel for a full reset as described in Section 7. After your 9-month minimum term, you may cancel at any time on the month-to-month plan with 30 days' notice — just email hello@playdapt.com. We'll schedule collection and return your Care Bond in full once the gym is collected in good condition.
Cancelling before the minimum term. If you end your subscription before the 9-month minimum term is complete — other than under the 14-day guarantee — an early cancellation charge of $200 plus one month's subscription fee applies. This charge may be deducted from your Care Bond, with any remaining balance refunded to you after collection.
We may suspend or end a subscription where Terms are breached, where access for service or collection is repeatedly refused, or where required by law — and will always communicate with you first where we reasonably can.
12Changes & contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll let you know by email and update the "last updated" date above. Your continued use of the service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
